Greetings, and welcome to the official blog for the artist showcases during MUSEXPO 2008! This part of the blog will deal with the performances of 36 acts from 15 countries over four jam-packed nights…memories that will last a lifetime (provided they’re still present and accounted for the morning after)!
My name is…well, since the focus of this blog is on the music and musicians, my name isn’t important. So you can just call me Switters, after the protagonist from Tom Robbins’ wonderful novel Fierce Invalids Home From Hot Climates. (This way, I’ll also be able to cling to the last shredded remnants of anonymity during the course of the conference…though if you’ve attended any of the previous three, odds are we’ve met…if you don’t remember, that means the repression was successful!!)
I’ll be Your Humble Blogger over the course of four nights of sensational showcases, bookended by a pair of Aussie acts: Brisbane’s Red Paintings kick off the festivities Sunday night at 8pm in the House of Blues Main Room, while Melbourne’s Skybombers close out the celebration on the same stage at midnight on Wednesday night/Thursday morning. In between will be 34 other acts hailing from all across the globe…and we’ll be there to provide all the inside shiznit, as it happens!
Plus, there’s a special added bonus: Saturday morning, April 26, I will be at the House of Blues blogging away from a special live edition of “Passport Approved,” the internationally syndicated import music show hosted by A&R Worldwide’s own Sat Bisla along with EA Games’ Steve Schnur. This week’s show will feature some very special guest hosts alongside Sat and Steve: the legendary Seymour Stein of Sire Records fame and industry gadfly Bob Lefsetz, publisher of “The Lefsetz Letter,” will also be in the house as we present a special edition of the show devoted to some of the artists performing at MUSEXPO 2008. It kicks off LIVE, from the House of Blues on the Sunset Strip, at 9am sharp and can be heard in Los Angeles and environs on host station “Indie 103.1″ and streaming online at www.indie1031.com.
Hopefully, I’ll tumble out of my bed and make it down there by airtime.
